| There is little doubt that biotechnologies will contribute to food security through increasing the aggregate supply of food, whether such contribution will be fel by the poorest sectors of society will depend, however, to some extent on the objectives towards which the modern biotechnologies are applied. At present there is a definite lack of pro-poor bias in most agricultural biotechnology research.
