The Intellectual and Technical Property Components of pro-Vitamin A Rice (Golden Rice TM): A Preliminary Freedom-To-Operate Review (ISAAA).

| As a result of the increasing complexity of the intellectual property (IP) framework, the Rockefeller Foundation funded this project to conduct a selective Freedom-To-Operate (FTO) analysis of GoldenRice (TM), a rice genetically engineered to produce provitamin A in the endosperm. This analysis reviews the IP and Technical Property components associated with GoldenRice, provides institutions interested in distributing this rice with the information for handling the proprietary science embedded in the product and develops possible alternative strategies on how IP/TP constraints could be managed effectively.
