Biodegradable plastic made from bean products. Industrial Crops and Products 11, 217-225
| Salmoral E.M., , Gonzalez, M.E.,, Mariscal, M.P. (2000).
| The suitability of two kinds of bean with typical protein quality and different starch structure to produce new plastic materials was analyzed. The mechanical properties of the moulded plastics based on soluble protein black bean were superior in elongation, tensile strength and low water absorption compared to the soluble protein white bean. Addition of 3%w/w boric acid to white bean plastic materials was effective in improving slightly the mechanical properties in the case of their whole flour products. Both proved to be potential raw materials for manufacturing biodegradable plastics.
